Dear Friends and Partners,
Our Annual General Meeting on March 10th, themed “Partnerships that Drive Results”, exceeded our expectations. The feedback has been incredible!
This year, we shifted our AGM format to an interactive dialogue. It was magnificent to witness the willingness of one hundred diverse attendees to be present, remain open to different viewpoints, and share insights and contacts. Our trusted and mission-aligned village of founders, fund managers, limited partners, and domain experts created an atmosphere for authentic conversations, catalyzing great ideas and meaningful partnerships.
Perspective from Limited Partners
We set the tone of our AGM by opening with a panel featuring perspectives from our Limited Partners: Nia Impact Capital, the MacArthur Foundation, Cambridge Associates, Pivotal Ventures, MassMutual, and the San Francisco Foundation. Their transparency and willingness to share their investment philosophies, expectations, and visions provided important context for everyone.
SoLo Funds: Inclusive Financial Services
A highlight of our gathering was the panel featuring the team behind SoLo Funds and their reporting on the “Cash Poor” across the country. Their inclusive financial services platform with +2M unique downloads and nearly $1B in transactions sparked important conversations about serving low and moderate income communities. For those interested in exploring this topic further, we encourage you to review their comprehensive Cash Poor Report on financial vulnerability in America.
Knowledge Sharing Through Roundtables
The founder roundtable sessions were particularly valuable, as many of you shared in your feedback. These discussions brought together co-investors, LPs, founders, and domain experts, creating an environment for meaningful insights in a condensed timeframe.
Having two distinct tracks, Delivering Better Care and Building Stronger Systems & Infrastructure, allowed participants to focus on areas relevant to their work while maintaining intimacy for meaningful dialogue. The diverse perspectives led to moments that you’re already following up on. The founders of our participating portfolio companies CareAcademy, Guardians Collective, Twentyeight Health, Winnie, District Cover, Esusu, SoLo Funds, and Voltpost are grateful for the feedback, ideas, and connections.
What's Next?
Follow through on your connections! We're excited to see what emerges from these relationships and conversations.
Our goal is to be more consistent with our gatherings, though in smaller formats. We won't bring 100+ people together regularly, but we plan to host smaller dinners and gatherings across America throughout the year. We recognize our convening power and seek to use it thoughtfully to support long-lasting value creation within our trusted, beautiful, and brilliant community.
With Gratitude
Lastly, thank you to AJ Pell & Team at Peridot Events Production for their thorough planning and execution, Monique Claiborne for her creative perspective and event support, Alece Birnbach at Graphic Recording Studio for capturing the day's insights in these images, and the team at Chris Evans Events + Catering for the excellent catering that fueled our conversations.
The success of this gathering belongs to all participants. Thank you for bringing your full selves, wisdom, and collaborative spirit.
